By the second year – panic began to set in – I had already made a couple of false starts on aspects which were either not necessary at that point or  too costly –  for example I began to level a space in the field for a barn to be constructed – only to realise that this was going to have to be put on hold for several years on grounds of cost – so the levelled space is there and the barn will have to wait.

At this point a good friend came down to help and he subsequently brought more friends and so began a new phase of work and fun – it is amazing what a small group of willing friends can achieve in a few days – and suddenly the whole thing began to be fun and to show real progress – early days……  but, things were beginning to take shape.

Altogether this second year was a turning point – I was getting to know the land – young people were beginning to come and help – priorities were becoming clearer and looking around it was clear that the place was looking much more cared for.  Some of the major trees were pruned – undergrowth cleared – tracks and paths made – steps cut and a large level terrace had been created for the construction of the Field Kitchen,

Maybe this project was possible after all !
