Location and Transport
- The venue is one hour south of Carcassonne, which is well served by train and Ryanair.
- There is a shuttle bus from the airport to Carcassonne and a train service from there to the nearest small town which is 6 kms away. I am happy to come and pick you up from there.
- Toulouse and its airport are 2.5 hours away by road.
- Calais is about 700 miles to the north.
Further travel details and help with route planning can be provided.

Accommodation
- Each camper will be provided with a four-man tent.
- Bring your own sleeping bags or sleeping mats for these tents.
- There is a wide choice of places where tents can be pitched.
- Tents will need to be erected by your group on arrival and struck, dried and re-packed on the day of departure.
Is there internet?
For internet access, guests will need to purchase their own internet bundles. There is a good signal for roaming phones via the Bouygues network but a poor signal from providers whose roaming partner networks are less established locally. Vodaphone does partner with Bouygues; check with your provider.
As a backup there is also broadband available at Anthony’s house for emergencies.

Volunteering during your stay
I would like to propose that one half day per week be set aside to help with gardening and maintenance tasks here in the canyon or possibly to undertake to help one of our immediate neighbours or the village. This will not exceed four hours in total and will be planned in consultation with the group leader. This is only a suggestion, time and energy permitting.
What do people need to bring?
The right attitude
A smile, a love of the outdoors and an open heart! Plus a sense of excitement about living and working with friends. Also, be prepared for the odd insect bite or sunburn: come well equipped, physically and mentally, for outdoor living.
Outdoor clothing
The summer days are often HOT so bring light clothes and footwear. Plus swimwear, a warm fleece, for cool evenings, plus good tough footwear and plenty of old working clothes. Fancy city clothes will get wrecked.
Equipment
- Your own sleeping bag and mat
- A head torch that works
- Any plug adaptors you may need
None of these items can be bought locally without a lot of extra driving.
For the attention of Group Leaders
- In an ideal world the one person would arrive early. There will be food shopping to be done and important information to be absorbed and passed on to the group. But this may not be practical.
- Your group may need a vehicle for exploring the area more widely. But if this proves too expensive for the group then Anthony can take people shopping in his vehicle when the need arises. Rentals will need to be organised before the group’s arrival. There is safe parking on the estate property but vehicles cannot be brought into the canyon. I can easily transport luggage and supplies from the parking place to the camp site as needed.
- Every member of your group should have basic health and accident insurance. They participate in living in le Moulin’s environment at their own risk. Someone in the group will need to have a complete list of everyone’s names addresses and contact details.
- Group members need to be fit, strong and in good health. While some degree of disability might not present a problem, this environment is not suitable for anyone with serious mobility issues.

About money
I do not run these facilities on a profit-making basis. They are only offered to groups which also follow a not-for-profit model. I’m always happy to have a very open discussion with you if your situation is more complex.
The small charges proposed are only intended to cover immediate expenses incurred during your stay. These include firewood, bottled gas, electricity, insurance, water charges and breakages. They bear no relation to capital costs of the facilities provided and they are not intended to. The reward for me is the pleasure of sharing this special place with special people. If you can bring a little of your magic to a little of our magic, then the circle will be complete.
